The Customer
Founded in 2006, Emirates Shipping (Hong Kong) Limited operates as part of Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), with its commercial headquarters in Dubai. Based in one of the world’s busiest container ports, ESL runs an extensive service network with over 70 offices across 28 countries. The company provides reliable and efficient shipping services, connecting markets across Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, Red Sea, and Africa.

The Challenge
ESL’s existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) infrastructure was outdated and faced issues such as redundancy, limited scalability, and high maintenance costs. These challenges impacted their operational efficiency and flexibility.

To address these concerns and support business growth, ESL sought to modernise their digital infrastructure by migrating their systems to Microsoft Azure Cloud. They required a trusted Managed Services partner to guide the transition and ensure the migration process was efficient, secure, and aligned with their business objectives

The Solution
Logicalis was selected as ESL’s partner to lead their cloud migration project. Drawing on our technical knowledge and project experience, Logicalis developed a structured cloud transformation plan based on ESL’s operational requirements. This involved an in-depth assessment, the creation of a customised landing zone on Microsoft Azure, and the provision of professional and managed services.

Furthermore, Logicalis supported ESL in securing funding through the Azure Migrate and Modernise Programme (AMMP) and worked alongside ESL’s ERP team to coordinate the migration process and provide ongoing technical support.

The Result
The migration to Microsoft Azure Cloud allowed Emirates Shipping Line to modernise its IT systems and improve operational outcomes. ESL achieved lower IT maintenance costs, better allocation of resources, superior flexibility and higher scalability, and increased productivity through reduced manual workload. The new cloud infrastructure also provided greater flexibility and scalability, supporting the client’s long-term business requirements and technology plans.

“The cloud has revolutionised the way organisations work, and our cloud migration journey needed to be future-proof, to protect our vital IT infrastructure. Logicalis, with their vast domain expertise in implementing and optimising cloud solutions, stepped in as our strategic technological partner, and has helped us effectively leverage technology to enhance our operational capabilities and improve business outcomes.”
